Texas!Howdy, partner! Get ready for a toe-tapping, boot-stomping good time as you trek across Texas, the second largest state in the USA. There's a wide open range of land just waiting for you. Come on to Texas, where you're sure to have a really good time!
You and your teammates have been hired by Texas Travel to study the seven regions of Texas and produce a travel brochure.First, surf the Internet to learn all about cities in the seven regions of Texas. Record your information on the "Texas Regions Research Chart". Next, choose a city in each of the seven regions of Texas to feature in your brochure of "Travel Across Texas". Record this information on the "Texas Regions Research Chart". Finally, you and your teammates will be prepared to create your "Travel Across Texas" brochure.
Let the travel begin! Click on a region name below to go there or you may use the map at the top of the page.Big Bend Country
You will work with 2 or 3 other classmates and will be responsible for helping each other in your quest across Texas.
Before you begin your web quest, print out each of the worksheets (or ask your teacher for help).
Brainstorm Ideas
Complete the brainstorm worksheet activity with your classmates.
Make a folder to save your work or use a floppy.
With your classmates surf the Internet for information on Texas.
You and your classmates will use the Internet resources to gather information about the seven regions of Texas.
Record the information you find on your "Texas Regions Chart".
Visit all the sites provided to gather your information. Search for interesting facts, places to visit, weather/climate, longitude/latitude of each city you visit, and pieces of information that will be useful in developing your "Travel Brochure".
Record all the information on the "Texas Regions Chart".
Record information from each of the seven regions of Texas. You only need to find one city in each region to include in your "Travel Brochure".
You and your teammates are researchers and recorders, so be sure to take notes on your own worksheet.
Once you are finished with your research, you are ready to plan your "Travel Brochure". Remember to include a city from each region in Texas. Be sure to add interesting facts, places to visit while there, a map route of how to get there (use the "Map It Out" link), weather/climate information, economic information, and longitude and latitude coordinates.
Now use ClarisWorks or another word processing document to create the "Travel Brochure". You may also create a HyperStudio Presentation, a ClarisWorks Slideshow, a PowerPoint Presentation, or Poster.
Once you and your teammates are finished, your work will be displayed for others to view.
Organize all your research material in the following order.
