Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society
The society
welcomes biology and non-biology students (with an interest in biology), and
both graduate and undergraduate members. We participate in many of the
university functions such as Island Day, Freshman Orientation, Oceans Bowl, and
the Science Fair. We also are involved with community events such as Bayfest, beach clean
ups, visiting schools and working at the Corpus Christi Zoo. Further information
is available at www.tri-beta.org and by
attending one of our meetings (no obligations! See below).
My
membership in BBB began in 1968 at Rutgers University. I have been the faculty
advisor for the Epsilon Phi Chapter at TAMUCC for the past 10 years. Our chapter
was the first to suggest and wear BBB Society honor chords and medallions at graduation.
TAMUCC
is one of the few campuses in the world that has its own field guide due to the
efforts of BBB students. Money for publication was raised by the efforts of the
society, and various chapters on plants, animals and habitats on our island
campus were written by BBB members.
BBB has been involved in support of the Corpus
Christi Zoo and the educational opportunities a zoological presents.
Students at TAMUCC who are interested in joining (looks great on
your resumé) can contact me at ghickman@falcon.tamucc.edu
or drop by my office. Meetings are posted on the BBB Bulletin Board, second
floor of Center for Sciences.
