My Trip to Planet Mathematica

One day, I was listening to the radio when I heard the announcer say, "The 4th caller is going to win a trip to Planet Mathematica to be in a math competition. If you can tell me what 12 times 12 is, and you're the 4th caller, you'll win."

I picked up the phone, dialed the number, and told the announcer that 12 times 12 was 144. "You win." "I win." I was excited.

I packed my bag, went to the rocket station, and blasted off to Planet Mathematica. When I got there, I was greeted by the tall, one-eyed math expert who was twice as tall as I.

She started testing me on all my math facts. Finally, when I was nearly mathematically exhausted, she said, "And now, for the final question. Marsha, what is 304 times 6?"

I told her without hesitation that 304 times 6 was 1,824. She said, "Correct! Marsha, you are the #1 gold medal mathematical victor."

I put on my gold medal and went back home to good old planet Earth.
