In Loving Memory of Jeannette Holloway

Jeannette Holloway
1928-2007

Jeannette Holloway, a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Texas Research League officer, Estill Foundation president and YWCA supporter, passed away January 9, 2007. She was 79.

Mrs. Jeannette Holloway was an alumna of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She graduated in May of 1954 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting. She is the oldest practicing CPA in the State of Texas. She was President of the Estill Foundation, which has donated 20 five-year scholarships at the second highest level the University offers.

In 2004, Holloway was recognized by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy for a 50-year accounting career and dedication to the field. Throughout the years, she has donated land and funds to scholarship programs, Boy Scouts and the YWCA. In May 2006, Jeannette was presented the University’s Distinguished Service Award for generously serving the University and the Coastal Bend Community with her time, talents and resources.

Mrs. Holloway was committed to education and believes that work provides opportunities for learning that are often not afforded in the traditional classroom. She was a true champion for education and had a passion for helping others realize their dreams. In Fall 2006, she also made a contribution to the Women’s Center to fund internships for the academic year. These internships will more than double the size of the Center’s current staff.

Jeannette inspired and touched the lives of so many at A&M-Corpus Christi. She will be remembered as a pioneer in the business world, a mentor, a philanthropist, and most importantly, a friend.

Thank you Jeannette! We honor you for your friendship.
