Honorary Woman Award
This award goes to a man who demonstrates
unique and continued support for women's issues in general and the
Women's Center in particular.
In 2004, this award was discontinued.
2003 Josh Osborne: Josh has always "faithfully represented
student concerns" and is committed to "equality among all sexes and
races."
2003 Travis Williamson, Jr.: Travis is always eager to
help the Women's Center. "He understands and values the role of the
Women's Center." Travis is always easy going and he makes a difference
at every event he is participating in. One of his nominators said that
Travis is nominated for his "terrific support, lending a hand and being
a great guy."
2002 Dan Goad: Dan is recognized for providing "lots of
input, energy, and resources" to the Women's Center. He contributed to
the planning of Women's History Month events and is a great presence at
these events. He has been a wonderful resource for ideas and support.
Dan repeatedly expresses his desire to be a continuing part of Women's
Center activities in the future.
2001 John Brendel: John has been "exceptional" on the
Board of Directors for the Women's Center. His weekly column in the
Caller-Times has always been sensitive to women's issues.
2001 Mark Hartlaub: Mark is recognized "for his
sensitivity and great ideas in dealing with the Take Back the Night
event every year and his continuing commitment to women's issues on
campus."
2000 Ray Hayes: Ray actively helped secure a space for the
Women's Center in the new University Center, he established the
possibility of a childcare facility on campus, and supported the Take
Back the Night program. Ray's "track record in administration on this
campus shows a commitment to women in the workplace" which has made
"the future of women in administrative roles here at TAMU-CC brighter
because of Ray's positive attitude toward women's capabilities."
2000 Bilaye Benibo: Bilaye is responsible for bringing
Take Back the Night to campus in 1995. He has worked to promote
diversity with the Women's Center and Black History Month events.

1998 Grady Price Blount, Ph.D.: Grady was awarded the
first ever Honorary Woman award in 1998. He actively conttributed as
Vice-Chair of the founding Board of Directors as well as participated
in the faculty group which created the minor in Women and Gender
Studies.
