Center History

A group of faculty initiated the idea for a TAMU-CC women's center in the spring of 1993. They were later joined by staff and students and developed a formal proposal for the center. The President and Cabinet approved this proposal in the spring of 1994. The official Women's Center for Education and Service was approved by the A&M Board of Regents on January 27,1995; subsequently an Interim Director and Interim Board of Directors were appointed. Programming started immediately, with a celebration of Women's History Month and the 75th anniversary of Women's Suffrage.
