       Minor in Music
         
  Students wishing to minor in music should possess a certain degree of musical competence, including the ability to read music and perform as a vocalist or on an instrument at an intermediate level. Students are encouraged to discuss their plans to pursue a music minor with an advisor within the Music Department or the Degree Counselor prior to enrolling in music course work. The course of study leading to the minor is comprised of 21-22 semester credit hours from the following courses.
 
         
    MUSI 1211, 1212 Musicianship I, II
MUSI 1216, 1217 Aural Training I, II
MUAP 1XXX or higher Secondary Applied Studio (two semesters)
MUAP 2XXX or higher Secondary Applied Studio (two semesters)
MUEN 1122 or 1151 Concert Band or University Singers (four semesters)

Choose two from the following:
MUSI 3310 History of Jazz
MUSI 3253 Basic Conducting
MUSI 4334 History of Music I
