Office of Student Financial Assistance


 

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT
This type of aid is available to all students who show financial need and want to earn a portion of their educational expenses. This program is awarded on a "first completed, first awarded" basis. Most jobs begin at minimum wage, have flexible hours, and have on-campus convenience. Wages are paid in the form of a bi-weekly check or direct deposit into your individual bank account.

All college work-study positions are posted at the office of Career Services, which is located on the 3rd floor of the University Center. If you want to apply for a particular positions, you must present your awards letter to Career Services. Receipt of a work-study award does not guarantee job placement, you must interview for work-study jobs. Students may work up to 20 hours a week. Students wishing to trade their work-study eligibility for another type of aid are limited to loans.

FEDERAL COLLEGE WORK-STUDY
This is a federal financial assistance program that provides on-campus jobs for students. This type of aid is available to all students who show a financial need and want to earn a portion of their educational expenses.

STATE COLLEGE WORK-STUDY
This is a state financial assistance program that provides on-campus jobs for students. This program is similar to the federal college work-study program.

COMMUNITY SERVICE WORK-STUDY PROGRAM
This program will employ students in various non-profit organizations throughout the community. Students in this program will perform hands-on community service. Most jobs will pay more than minimum wage and have flexible work hours. All jobs require the student to provide their own transportation.

AMERICA READS
The America Reads Challenge Act of 1997 provides reading tutors for preschool children through the third grade. At Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, reading tutors will be placed at the Early Childhood Development Center on campus. Tutors will be selected by the College of Education and must be eligible for federal work-study.
