The Focus on Engagement Task Force will describe goals/strategies for improving intellectual, social, cultural, and civic engagement of students, faculty and staff. The task force will pay particular attention to the following:

• connecting Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi students with the university, professional, and surrounding communities to complement the academic program, to create internships and other partnerships, and to instill a culture of giving back to society;
• considering transformational student financial aid/work programs (i.e. the Berea model, Contract with the Islanders.) and funding strategies for graduate students;
• identifying strategic alliance "point people" who are responsible for interacting in a systematic way with significant external constituencies;
• evaluating existing support services currently charged with assisting students to connect beyond the campus (i.e. placement office, community outreach, etc.);
• facilitating mentoring strategies for the various university constituencies;
• suggesting ways to enhance the intellectual ambience of the campus.
