Please check with your graduate program or the graduate catalog for more information concerning specific admission requirements pertaining to the program of your choice. You may view the graduate catalog at http://catalog.tamucc.edu.

Statement of Purpose

  Statement of Purpose includes:

  • A statement of your educational and professional goals and the reasons you are applying to the program
  • Length can range from 300-500 words on average
  • This statement is often the most significant impression of you as an individual
   Additional Essays:
  • An additional essay may be required for admissions to some graduate programs.
  • Consult the specific graduate department/program of interest to verify length, content, or any further requirements pertaining to this essay.

Hints for Writing a Statement of Purpose
  • Approach faculty for advice
  • Be honest when writing
  • Write clearly
Include qualities such as:
  • Motivation, Intellectual Skills and Suitability for study in Program
  • Your intentions for Graduate Study
Consider the following questions before writing the statement of purpose:
  • Do your interests fit with the school or department you are applying for?
  • Are you communicating ideas effectively?
  • Are you set apart from other applicants?

Letters of Recommendation

List the names of three references familiar with your academic or professional performance.

Please consult the graduate program of interest to determine if these references must submit letters in support of your application.

You can utilize the online form to email requests for Letters of Recommendation. The recommender will receive an email link to a recommendation page.
