Happy New Year! We hope that your holidays were peaceful, and that they
included at least one good book! CCIRA met Jan. 16th at Luther Jones. CCISD
Elementary Teacher of the Year, Margaret Nourse reminded us of the books
we loved growing up. Now if we can only share those memories with our students
Our next meeting will be Thursday, February 20th at Luther Jones Elementary,
7533 Lipes, CC, TX at 7:00 PM. CCISD's Secondary Teacher of the Year will
be sharing with us. Don't forget your board baby books! You will earn an
extra chance at the door prizes for every baby board book you bring. (Door
prizes at our last meeting included 3 sets of 5 books each from scholastic
books, perfect for literature circles. ) We currently have only 75 books,
and would like to have enough to give every mother at the Teenage Mother's
School a bag with 2 books.
Its time to elect a new board. If you are interested in serving on CCIRA's
board, please contact us at tenabeanland@hotmail.com We have had a wonderful
group and would like to include more members. There will be nominations
from the nominating committee and from the floor at February's meeting.
Installation of officers will be at TAMUCC's 8th Annual Reading Conference
on Saturday, April 5th during the luncheon at 12:15. Several of our members
will be presenting at the conference again. Come share ideas and go home
inspired! CCIRA will also be presenting their annual $200 scholarship to
further the education of one of our members.

words) about the value of education and the role of literacy in your life
