Urban Leadership Collaborative
North Bay Educational Partnership
Using a Urban Leadership Collaborative grant from the
North American Association for Environmental Education,
P3 provides safety and environmental training to formal and non-formal educators in the North
Bay Community. To define and coordinate activities, P3 formed a Partnership with the North Bay
Community Advisory Council. The Council provided input on the adult education component and
stressed the need to work directly with children on the safety concerns and procedures
associated with living near the refineries. With matching funds provided by Koch, Citgo, and
the City, we were able to award $2000 mini-grants to each of the five North Bay area schools.
The schools participating in the North Bay Educational Partnership are Coles, Crossley, Evans,
Gibson, and Oak Park Elementary Schools. It is the goal of this Partnership to assist schools
in providing this education and to continue providing environmental education activities for
these children. The schools' projects include building an outdoor learning center, a butterfly
observation area, a birding area, a food chain laboratory, and coastal habitats field kits.
