Alcohol
The use, possession, distribution, and consumption
of alcoholic beverages on campus must comply with Texas law and
with university policies that prohibit them except in designated
areas. Students may possess and consume alcoholic beverages within
their dormitory if they are 21 years or older. The purchase, consumption,
furnishing, or transportation of alcoholic beverages is prohibited
to anyone under 21 years of age by state law.
Drugs
Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi complies
with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act. The act may be
summarized as follows: Use, possession, sale, manufacture, or
distribution of drugs classified as illegal is prohibited by state
law. There are a number of resources available on campus for those
needing assistance in dealing with problems resulting from drug
abuse. Campus violations are prosecuted, and offenders are liable
for university disciplinary action as well.
Weapons
Possession, carrying, or use of weapons, ammunition,
or explosives is prohibited on university property by state law.
Victim's Right to Know
The Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act permits
colleges and universities to disclose to alleged victims of any
crime of violence the result of any disciplinary proceedings conducted
by the institution against the alleged perpetrator. If you are
the victim of such a crime and are interested in the disposition
of your case, please contact the Dean of Students.
Access
Although Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi
is a public institution it has the right and obligation to safeguard
the security of all members of the campus community from unwelcome
incursions by the public-at-large, and in cases, where such behavior
poses a clear and present danger, the removal of such persons.
To request the removal of such persons from university property,
contact the UPD at ext. 4444.
Parking
Parking enforcement helps to assure your safety
by being certain that vehicles are not obstructing fire lanes,
blocking prohibited zones or handicapped parking spaces. To insure
that vehicles are legally parked, each vehicle parked on the TAMU
- CC campus must display a parking permit. Failure to do so will
result in your vehicle being cited or impounded.
Traffic Regulations
To insure the safety of the campus community
all traffic laws are enforced on the campus of Texas A&M University
- Corpus Christi through a system of warnings and citations. Citations
issued by the University Police are processed by the Justice of
the Peace for Precinct Two.
