Chickens raised for meat are crowded by the thousands in "grower houses".

Each is given approximately half a square foot of space. 3 billions are slaughtered each year in the USA

Assembly line, the beginning.

Alive chickens are hung upside-down to metal hooks.

They will be killed by a blade or immersion in an electrical shock tank.

They see the fate of others as they approach the killing station.

The details vary from plant to plant.

Thousands are killed every hour.

3 billion each year.

There are no humane slaughtering regulations for chickens.

They struggle and often fall from the rail, stumbling all over the kill floor and making piteous cries.

Some "processing" has been done.
