Branding

The offspring of dairy cows are raised in crates at calf ranches. Males are used for beef or veal. Females are used to replace worn out dairy cows in the milking herd.

This veal calf does not have enough room to turn oround. It is kept in isolation in semidarkness. It is fed a nutrient-deficient diet designed to keep it anemic and its flesh light.
This veal calf must lie in its own excrement.

Veal Calf
Backdoorview

A downed, disemboweled calf is left to suffer at a Pennsylvania stockyard. Stockyard workers refused to humanely euthanize him.

Only a few hours old, still wet from birth, this downed calf is left for dead at a New York stockyard.

It is a cold winter day, and his temperature is too low to read on the thermometer. He is rescued by Farm Sanctuary and recovers.

No mother, sunlight , or decent food
The calf "liberated" by death.
