Stairway to Heaven
(Page-Plant)
There's a lady who's sure all that glitters
is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows if the
stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
There's a sign on the wall but she wants to
be sure
And you know sometimes words have two meanings
In the tree by the brook there's a songbird
who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
There's a feeling I get
when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke
through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And it's whispered that soon, if we all call
the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand
long
And the forest will echo with laughter
And it makes me wonder
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the May Queen
Yes there are two paths you can go by but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on
Your head is humming and it won't go because
you don't know
The piper's calling you to join him
Dear lady can't you hear the wind blow and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

Let's Dance
p. 16-17
Let's dance, put on your red shoes and dance the blues
Let's dance, to the song they're playin'
on the radio
Let's sway, while colour lights
up your face
Let's sway, sway through the crowd to an
empty space
If you say run, I'll run with you
If you say hide, we'll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall
Into my arms
And tremble like a flower
Let's dance, for fear your grace
should fall
Let's dance, for fear tonight is all
Let's sway, you could look into
my eyes
Let's sway, under the moonlight, this serious
moonlight
If you say run, I'll run with you
If you say hide, we'll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall
Into my arms
And tremble like a flower
Let's dance, put on your red shoes
and dance the blues
Let's dance, to the song they're playin'
on the radio
Let's sway, you could look into
my eyes
Let's sway, under the moonlight, this serious
moonlight

Ah, now I don't hardly know her
But I think I could love her
Crimson and clover
Ah when she comes walking over
Now I've been waitin' to show her
Crimson and clover over and over
Yeah, my, my such a sweet thing
I wanna do everything
What a beautiful feeling
Crimson and clover over and over
Crimson and clover over and over
Crimson and clover over and over
Crimson and clover over and over
Crimson and clover over and over......
Teenage Enema Nurses in Bondage p. 25
Teenage, greenage, awkward in-between age
(Teenage enema nurse)
I turned 15 thought it was a teen scene
(Teenage enema nurse)
Thought it would be easy, but it makes me queasy
(I’m a Teenage enema nurse)
Were all just Teenage enema nurses in bondage
Must have left a chapter out.
In school and nursing classes.
They never taught me all about
Those tubes and lubes and asses.
Teenage enema nurse (x4)
They told me stick the nozzle in
There’s really nothing to it
It’s not a very pretty job
But someone’s got to do it.
Teenage enema nurse (x4)
Were all just Teenage enema nurses in bondage
Teen job, mean job, not a very clean job
(Teenage enema nurse)
Poses it with hoses ain't No bed of roses
(Teenage enema nurse)
There are no implications just evacuations
(Teenage enema nurse)
Were all just Teenage enema nurses in bondage
I’ve had such Emergency it made me so disgusted
Backed up the urgency to empty and it busted
Teenage enema nurse
Teenage enema nurse
Oh shit the pay is low
I labor not in vain
I’d quick but I’m so broke I know
I’d never find a way
Teenage enema nurse
Were all just Teenage enema nurses in bondage.
This job stinks.

AGAINST
THE WIND
Written by Bob Seger
It seems like yesterday, but it
was long ago.
Janey was lovely, she was the queen of
my nights.
There in the darkness with the radio, playing
low.
And the secrets that we shared, the mountains
that we moved
Caught like wildfire out of control
Till there was nothing left to burn and
nothing left to prove.
And I remember what she said to
me.
How she swore that it never would end.
I remember how she held me, oh so tight.
Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know
then.
CHORES
Against the wind. We were running against
the wind.
We were young and strong, we were running
against the wind.
And the years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone.
Surrounded by strangers I thought were
my friends.
I found myself further and further from
my home And I
I guess I lost my way There were oh, so
many roads.
I was living to run, and running to live,
Never worrying about paying, or even how
much I owed.
Movin' eight miles a minute for
months at a time.
Breaking all of the rules that would bend.
I begin to find myself just searching.
Searching for shelter again and again.
Against the wind. A little something
against the wind.
I found myself seeking shelter against
the wind.
Well those drifter's days are past
me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments.
What to leave in. What to leave out.
Against the wind.
I'm still running against the wind.
I'm older now but still running against
the wind.
Well I'm older now and still running against
the wind

For it's a long, long time
from May to December
And the days grow short
when you reach September
And the Autumn weather
Turns the leaves to flame
And I haven't got time
For the waiting game
And the days dwindle down
to a precious few
September November
And these few precious days
I'd spend with you
These golden days
I'd spend with you
When you meet with the young man early in Spring
They court you in song and rhyme
They woo you with words and a clover ring
But if you examine the goods they bring
They have little to offer but the songs they sing
And a plentiful waste of time of day
A plentiful waste of time
Hungry Like The
Wolf p. 127
Dark in the city, night is a wire
Steam in the subway, earth is a fire
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do
do, do do
Woman you want me, give me a sign
And catch my breathing even closer behind
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do
do, do do
In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Smell like I sound, I'm lost in a crowd
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Straddle the line, in discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Mouth is alive with juices like wine
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Stalked in the forest, too close to hide
I'll be upon you by the moonlight side
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do
do, do do
High blood drumming ony our skin it's so
tight
You feel my heart, I'm just a moment behind
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do
do, do do
In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Scent and a sound, I'm lost and I'm found
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Strut on a line, it's discord and rhyme
I howl and I whine I'm after you
Mouth is alive all running inside
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Hungry like the wolf
Hungry like the wolf
Hungry like the wolf)
Burning the ground I break from the crowd
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
I smell like I sound, I'm lost and I'm
found
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Strut on a line, it's discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Mouth is alive with juices like wine
And I'm hungry like the wolf
Burning the ground I break from the crowd
I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Scent and a sound, I'm lost and I'm found

Whisper to a Scream (Birds Fly) p. 139
(McNabb)
Some things take forever,
But with building bricks of trust and love,
Mountains can be moved
Love come, down upon us 'till you flow like water,
Burning, with the hope of insight,
Feathered, look they're covered with a bright elation,
Stolen, in the sight of love,
Chorus: We are, we are, we are but your children, finding our
way
Around indecision, we are, we are, we are ever helpless,
Take us forever, a whisper to a scream
Birds Fly, in the eye of the faithless daughter,
Broken, at the bitter end,
Wasted, sacrifice for a new nirvana,
Night time, send us on our way
Repeat Chorus
A whisper to a scream
Repeat Chorus
Summer Wind p. 45
The summer wind, came blowin' in from across
the sea
It lingered there to touch your hair and walk with me
All summer long we sang a song and then we strolled that golden
sand
Two sweethearts and the summer wind
Like painted kites, those days and nights,
they went flyin' by
The world was new beneath a blue umbrella sky
Then softer than a piper man one day it called to you
I lost you, I lost you to the summer wind
The autumn wind and the winter winds, they
have come and gone
And still the days, those lonely days, they go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies through nights that never end
My fickle friend, the summer wind
The summer wind
Warm summer wind
Mmm, the summer wind

Or just another lost angel...City of Night

Into your blue-blue Blues
Into your blues, ohh, yeah
I see your hair is burnin'
Hills are filled with fire
If they say I never loved you
You know they are a liar
Drivin' down your freeways
Midnite alleys roam
Cops in cars, the topless bars
Never saw a woman...
So alone, so alone
So alone, so alone

On The Sunny Side Of The Street
(Dorothy Fields & Jimmy McHugh)
Grab your coat and get your hat
Leave your worry on the doorstep
Just direct your feet
To the sunny side of the street
Can't you hear a pitter-pat
And that happy tune is your step
Life can be so sweet
On the sunny side of the street
I used to walk in the shade
With those blues on parade
But now I'm not afraid
This rover crossed over
If I'd never have a cent
I'd be rich as Rockefeller
Going to set my feet
On the sunny side of the street
Soft Cell
from the album Non-stop Erotic Cabaret
1981
Synth player David Ball and singer Marc Almond originally worked together while at art school in the UK. It was when they discovered a mutual interest in soul music that Soft Cell was born, as they explored putting an electronic spin to the emotion and sincerity of motown. Their first hit was appropriately an electronic remake of "Tainted Love," a classic if somewhat obscure soul piece written by Edward Cobb and originally recorded by Gloria Jones. For the single a touch of Supremes was tacked on to the song for good measure.
Soft Cell was by no means alone in their fascination with '60s soul. At the close of the '70s the Stranglers made a hit out of "Walk On By" and the Beat did the same with their cover of Smokey Robinson's "Tears of a Clown." Elvis Costello was blending motown, punk and reggae, leading confused critics to slap a new wave label on him. By 1981 cool cats Squeeze had become less a new wave band than a born-again motown act, with such soulful original compositions as "Tempted" and "Black Coffee in Bed." The new romantic bands of the early '80s embraced the look and sound of motown and made it their own, as such bands as ABC and Spandau Ballet donned suits and thin ties and crooned their soulful tunes with as much feeling as a young white man could muster. Scritti Politti likened themselves to Aretha Franklin, ABC sang about when Smokey sings, Japan covered Smokey's "I Second That Emotion," the immortally pessimistic Love and Rockets covered the Temptations, and Paul Weller turned his back on the Jam to form soulsters Style Council.
Reaching number 1 in the UK and number 8 in
the US, Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" remained on international
charts for months and became one of the top selling singles of
all time. Unable to repeat their initial success, Almond and Ball had a few lesser hits
before calling it quits as Soft Cell in 1984. After forming bands
with such clever names as Marc and the Mambas and Marc Almond
and the Willing Sinners,
Almond had a hit with Bronski Beat before wisely chosing to release
material simply under his own name.
You started out that way
You'd do anything to stay
And keep your money boys
Made of silver and gold
Keep your Pekinese, Turkish cigarettes
And your lighter that looks like a gun
So you married your daddy with a different name
Sex and dying in high society
That pretty man of yours
The one hiding inside the director's clothes
The one who calls you dear
After banging away at you in the night
That one's just got to go
Every time you look at him
You could almost just fall asleep
And there's a masterbating
Getting underneath the bed
And now you tell the maid
To burn you on your virgin back
With a curling iron
Hotter than hot
You say it's good enough
You say your pain is better
Than any kind of love
Many many guys and girls
All real beauties
Everybody making a stab
They hurt themselves
Singles rule the world
Feeding on fresh blood
One track eye
Below the belt
All in a line
All in a line
They're all in a line
Like adult books
I don't understand
Jackie Susann meant it that way
Clifford shackles Jane
Throws her on the floor
She says, no, no, yes
And he cuts the chains
Du Plenty people go for Tomata
Yes, but he just goes for that special girl
Who says, no
All in a line
All in a line
They're all in a line
Like adult books
I don't understand
Jackie Susann meant it that way
Album: Trouble in Paradise

Hate New York City
It's cold and it's damp
And all the people dressed like monkeys
Let's leave Chicago to the Eskimos
That town's a little bit too rugged
For you and me you bad girl
Rollin' down the Imperial Highway
With a big nasty redhead at my side
Santa Ana winds blowin' hot from the north
And we as born to ride
Roll down the window put down the top
Crank up the Beach Boys baby
Don't let the music stop
We're gonna ride it till we just can't
ride it no more
From the South Bay to the Valley
From the West Side to the East Side
Everybody's very happy
'Cause the sun is shining all the time
Looks like another perfect day
I love L.A. (We love it)
I love L.A. (We love it)
Look at that mountain
Look at those trees
Look at that
bum over there, man
He's down on his knees
Look at these women
There ain't nothin' like 'em nowhere
Century Boulevard (We love it)
Victory Boulevard (We love it)
Santa Monica Boulevard (We love it)
Sixth Street (We love it, we love it)
I love L.A.
I love L.A.
(We love it)
Worlds Away p.198
Walking around it's clear
I'm worlds away
Thinking with only half my mind
Found myself wanting
To be asleep
To be sleeping
To be dreaming
To be worlds away
Slip into bed the sheets are
Cold and smooth
My tension melts to a quiet warm
Find myself waiting
To be sleeping
To be dreaming
To be worlds away
CHORUS
I wanna be worlds away
Apart from the day to day
I know I'll be okay
When I get worlds away
Worlds away
Worlds away
Slipping away to somewhere
In my heart
Go to a world where no one's been before
That's when I find myself
Not quite sleeping
But still dreaming
And I'm worlds away
She had to leave Los Angeles
All her toys wore out in black
And her boys had too
She started to hate
Every Nigger and Jew
Every Mexican that gave her a lotta shit
Every homosexual and the idle rich
She had to get out
She gets confused
Flying over the dateline
Her hands turn red
'Cause the days change at night
Change in an instant
The days change at night
Change in an instant
She had to leave Los Angeles
She found it hard to say goodbye
To her own best friend
She bought a clock on Hollywood Blvd.
The day she left
It felt sad
She had to get out
